Companions and Sir Knights,

In case you haven't heard the news - the worlds oldest man Walter Breuning turned 114 years old today! Who is Walter Breuning you ask? Well, we'll give you a hint (click here) .

Born on September 21, 1896 in Melrose, Minnesota, Walter moved to Montana in 1918 where he resides today as part of the Rainbow Retirement Community in Great Falls, MT. During his life in Montana Walter worked as a clerk for fifty years with the Great Northern Railway (now known as the BNSF Railway).

Walter became the worlds oldest living man in July 2009 when Henry Allingham (UK) died at the age of 113.

During his life (living in three different centuries) Walter has lived through important parts of our countries history. The year Walter was born, Grover Cleveland was in office at the 22nd President of the United States. Other significant events during Walters life include: 7 U.S. Wars, the first air flight by the Wright Brothers, the Great Depression, Prohibition, the Manhattan Project, the U.S. Space Program, Neil Armstrong's first steps on the Moon, 22 U.S. Presidencies. The list goes on.

We would like to wish Walter a very Happy Birthday, and hope to see him this time next year to celebrate his 115 birthday!
